Haloween Costume
|
Every Haloween I have to keep getting more and more creative with my costumes. I love dressing up for Halloween and I make it a personal mission to go all out. Not only do I make sure that I go all out for my own costumes, I go all out for my kids. If you're looking for great Haloween Costume ideas, you should definitely start your search online if you want some good ideas. When I say go online, I mean for Haloween costume ideas only. Don't bother buying a costume that you can easily make. Most Haloween costumes that you can buy are ridiculously expensive and they look cheap. You can make a costume for less than what you'll spend on one and yours will look more authentic. Last year I made the mistake of buying Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow costumes for my kids. I spend over $100.00 dollars on the costumes and accessories. Afterwards, I realized that I could have made the same costumes for half the money and mine would have looked a lot more authentic. You can make any costume if you have a basic understanding of a sewing machine. When I was in high school I was a twenties flapper. Instead of buying a ninety dollar flapper costume, I bout a black slip from Target for twelve dollars and some black fringe that cost eight dollars. I had my aunt show me how to use a sewing machine and I made myself a flapper costume. I also wore a pair of black gloves that I bought the prior year for prom and took a headband and sewed some sequins and glued a feather on it. The only thing that I bought brand new for the whole costume was a feather boa. While I was out at a party that night, I had a man that owned a theatre store ask me if my costume was rented from his shop. He even offered me a job designing costumes!
The moral of this story is that a Haloween costume is always going to look better if you put your own special touches on it. If you don't know how to sew, you probably know someone who does. Don't bother wasting your money on cheap fabric that your kids are only going to wear once. You're more creative than you think you are. So start planning your costume now! |
